Cookie & Tracking Policy

Shared Style is a mobile application. We do not use traditional browser cookies. This policy explains the equivalent tracking and storage technologies we use and how you can control them.

1. What This Policy Covers

This Cookie & Tracking Policy explains how Shared Style (Pty) Ltd ("we", "us", "our") uses local storage, device identifiers, analytics SDKs, and similar technologies ("tracking technologies") when you use the Shared Style mobile application. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

2. Technologies We Use

2.1 Secure Local Storage (Session Tokens)

We use expo-secure-store, a hardware-backed encrypted storage layer on your device, to retain your authentication session between app launches. This is the mobile equivalent of a strictly necessary session cookie. Without it, you would need to log in every time you open the app.

• What is stored: an encrypted session token issued by our authentication provider (Supabase).

• Retention: until you sign out or uninstall the app.

• Can you opt out: No — this storage is necessary for the app to function.

2.2 Analytics (Expo / React Native Telemetry)

The Expo development framework may collect anonymised crash reports and performance metrics to help us diagnose technical problems. No personally identifiable information is included in these reports.

• What is collected: app version, device type, OS version, crash stack traces.

• Retention: as determined by Expo's data retention policies (typically 90 days).

• Can you opt out: Yes — contact us at legal@sharedstyle.co.za and we will disable telemetry for your account where technically possible.

2.3 Supabase Backend Telemetry

Our backend infrastructure provider, Supabase, may log anonymised request metadata (e.g. API call timestamps, response codes) for security monitoring and rate limiting. These logs do not contain your personal content.

• Retention: as determined by Supabase's data retention policies.

2.4 Payment Providers (TradeSafe and Ozow)

Payments on Shared Style are processed via Ozow (instant EFT) and held in escrow by TradeSafe. When you proceed to payment, you interact with Ozow's hosted payment page. TradeSafe and Ozow may use their own tracking technologies subject to their own privacy and cookie policies. We have no control over those technologies. We encourage you to review TradeSafe's privacy policy at www.tradesafe.co.za and Ozow's privacy policy at www.ozow.com.

3. Technologies We Do NOT Use

We want to be clear about what we do not do:

• We do not use third-party advertising networks or retargeting pixels.

• We do not share your usage data with advertisers.

• We do not use cross-app tracking to follow you across other apps or websites.

• We do not use traditional browser cookies (the app is not a website).

• We do not use fingerprinting techniques to identify your device without your knowledge.

4. Your Controls

4.1 Sign Out

Signing out of the Shared Style app deletes your session token from your device's secure storage.

4.2 Uninstall

Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data from your device, including your session token and any cached content.

4.3 Device-Level Settings

Your mobile device operating system (iOS or Android) may provide settings to limit certain forms of tracking. Consult your device's privacy settings for more information.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. Where a change is material, we will notify you via an in-app message before the change takes effect. Continued use of the app after notification constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
