Seller & Lender Terms

Shared Style

Seller & Lender Terms

Effective date: June 2025 | Version 1.1

These Seller & Lender Terms apply to all users who list items for rent or sale on Shared Style. They supplement the platform-wide Terms and Conditions.

Definitions

"Lender" means a user who lists an item for rental. "Seller" means a user who lists an item for outright sale. "Listing" means a published item created by a Lender or Seller. "RRP" means the recommended retail price of the item as declared at listing.

Eligibility to List

Listing Standards

Condition Grading — Mandatory Dropdown

Item condition must be selected from the platform's four-point condition scale. Free-text condition descriptions are not permitted.

You must select the condition that accurately reflects the item on the date of listing. Misrepresentation of condition is grounds for claim forfeiture and potential account suspension.

Mandatory Measurements

Sizing information must be provided using the platform's mandatory measurement fields: bust, waist, hips, and length (where applicable), in centimetres. General size labels ("size 10", "medium") are not sufficient and must be accompanied by measurements. Listings without complete measurement fields cannot be submitted.

Photographs — Minimum 4, In-App Camera Required

A minimum of four photographs are required: front, back, label or tag, and any existing wear. Additional photographs are encouraged. All listing photographs must be taken using the in-app camera function. Upload from a device photo library is not permitted for listing photos.

Mandatory Flaws Disclosure

Undisclosed pre-existing damage cannot be claimed against a Renter. The burden of disclosure is on you, the Lender, at the time of listing.

You must photograph all existing damage, wear, alterations, or imperfections using the dedicated flaws photo slot in the listing form. This includes — but is not limited to — pulls, pilling, stains, altered hems, missing buttons, broken fastenings, and fading.

If damage is identified at Stage 4 (post-return) that was present before the rental but was not disclosed in the Listing or evidenced in Stage 1 photographs, you forfeit the right to claim against the Renter's deposit for that specific damage.

Authenticity Documentation for High-Value Items

Items with a declared RRP of R5,000 or more must include at least one form of authenticity documentation uploaded at listing. Accepted documentation includes: original purchase receipt, certificate of authenticity, branded dust bag or box photograph, or an authenticated resale certificate from a recognised authentication service. High-value listings submitted without this documentation will not be approved.

Minimum Pricing

Listing Approval

All new Listings are subject to manual review before going live. You will be notified in the app when your Listing is approved or if additional information is required. Approval is typically completed within 48 hours. Approval does not constitute endorsement of the item's condition or declared value.

Pricing and Fees

Rental Pricing

You set your own rental prices for three fixed periods: 3 days, 7 days, and 30 days. You must provide a price for all three periods. Prices must be in ZAR and must be at least R200 per period.

Deposit

A security deposit is charged to the Renter and held in escrow. You do not receive the deposit directly. It is refunded to the Renter after safe return unless a damage claim is upheld.

Booking Requests

You must accept or decline a booking request within 24 hours. Requests not actioned within 24 hours expire automatically. Once you accept a booking request, the Renter has 24 hours to complete payment. If payment is not received, the booking is cancelled.

Photo Documentation

All photographs at all four stages must be taken using the in-app camera function. Upload from the device photo library is not permitted at any stage.

Failure to complete Stage 1 or Stage 4 using the in-app camera will significantly prejudice your ability to make a damage or loss claim.

Delivery

All items must be dispatched via a Platform-approved courier. You must enter a valid courier waybill number into the Platform before dispatch can be confirmed. Retain your waybill as proof of dispatch. For resale, dispatch within 48 hours of payment confirmation.

Lender Wallet and Payouts

Earnings from completed rentals and resales are credited to your Shared Style wallet balance. Funds accumulate in your wallet and are not automatically paid out. You initiate a withdrawal from the wallet at any time. Withdrawals are processed to your registered South African bank account.

Rental payouts are released to your wallet within 3 business days of the return being confirmed with no damage claim, or after a claim is resolved. Resale payouts are released within 3 business days of the Buyer confirming receipt.

Cancellation by Lender

If you cancel a confirmed booking, the Renter receives a full refund of all amounts paid. Repeated cancellations may result in account suspension. The following consequences apply:

Reviews

Following each completed transaction, you are required to submit a review of the Renter before initiating or accepting a new transaction on the Platform. The Platform will restrict listing features until the review for your most recently completed transaction has been submitted. Reviews must reflect your genuine experience of the transaction.

In-App Communication

All communication with Renters or Buyers must take place exclusively through the Shared Style in-app messaging system. Sharing personal contact details for the purpose of conducting a transaction outside the Platform is prohibited and may result in account suspension.

Your Obligations and Representations

Account Suspension and Termination

Shared Style may suspend or terminate your account if you provide false information, list prohibited items, misrepresent condition, repeatedly cancel confirmed bookings, or accumulate upheld damage claims for undisclosed damage.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes are subject to South African court jurisdiction or, where applicable, the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud.
